I am a senior at North Hall High School, and I am currently doing my mentorship at North Hall Middle School. I chose to mentor at North Hall because I have always had a passion for my school and I have had so many encouraging teachers that have inspired me. I am mentoring with Ms. Ruby Putman, she is an

Take a look...

"I think standardized tests measure one part of a student’s educational experience. The problem I see is that these tests are geared for the average student that is brought up in our educational system.  I think we put too much emphasis on these tests.  However, we do have to some sort of baseline even if we don’t agree with the outcome. The learning gap is real.  We have pushed college on so many students that we have created many gaps in our society.  I see students, years later that tried college or graduated and are working minimum wage jobs and trying to pay off debts.  Their education has failed to provide them with adequate life skills to live as productive as they could be.  It seems as if we cater to the upper class (high achievers) and the lower class (lower learners) and we tend to ignore the “normal” student thus widening the gap." - Ruby Putman

Learning Styles

Everyone is created differently, but everyone deserves the same opportunity for success. A simple     thing like understanding your learning style will benefit you in your studies and career. Learning styles are theories that try to separate students by  their different and optimum methods of learning. It is important for students to be aware of their learning style so they know how to study and effective learn and absorb information.

My Mentorship: North Hall Middle School

amazing teacher and a strong, loving women whom I look up to and respect greatly. Just like Ms. Putman, I have a special place in my heart for children and helping others, I'm greatly looking forward to getting to start my career in education. When I am at my mentorship, I act as an assistant teacher to Mrs. Putman. I help the students with their notes and even go over lessons with them. I really enjoy it, especially when I see a student understand something and they're able to apply it and help others learn as well.
